Sarah Buck

Sarah, 30, joined the Navy in 1999 as an Engineer.

She’s currently one of the Sea Training Officers at Britannia Royal Naval College (BRNC) in Dartmouth. Her role takes her to sea with young Naval officers as an instructor on their sea training.

Spending so much time at sea it takes Sarah a wee while to get her land legs back!

A keen open water swimmer during her teenage years, Sarah has continued to enjoy swimming in the cold water (mad!) alongside her naval career.

Despite a serious injury Sarah has been enjoying training for this Channel challenge. Most of her training has been done battling the strong currents of the South Atlantic in the Falkland Islands (to get used to the cold !) and the marginally warmer climate of the Brazilian coast! However, the best training has been conducted on the equator with King Neptune himself!

Sarah is proud to have represented Great Britain and the Royal Navy at numerous open water events both nationally and internationally.

As we speak Sarah is currently on board HMS EDINBURGH as she transits back to the UK following her Atlantic Patrol Task (South) deployment and is due to arrive back in Portsmouth just 4 days before the relay!

Sarah&Spike

When not swimming after the ship in the mid Atlantic or causing havoc for her cadets Sarah is busy preparing for her wedding to Spike (from the RAF team) which will take place just a week after the Channel relay race.
